AFTCO and B.A.S.S. Nation have long been champions of preserving our freshwater fisheries. In 2025, their collaborative conservation grant program will continue supporting initiatives to enhance fish habitats and ensure the vitality of bass populations across the nation.
AFTCO’s Commitment to Conservation
Since its inception, AFTCO has been deeply rooted in conservation efforts. The company and the Shedd family contribute at least 10% of their profits to organizations dedicated to preserving our waterways and fish populations. Their initiatives range from supporting state agencies to funding regional projects through bass fishing conservation grants. Nationally, AFTCO supports the creation of artificial and natural habitats, organizes lake cleanups, and promotes fish care education.
How the Grant Program Works
The AFTCO x B.A.S.S. Nation Conservation Grant Program was established to fund freshwater bass conservation projects proposed by B.A.S.S. Nation clubs. Each project must have the endorsement of the local fisheries management agency and aim to achieve mutually beneficial goals.
Projects are encouraged to collaborate with partners and may be part of larger initiatives. Having matching funds or in-kind contributions can enhance a project’s value. The deadline for submissions is March 31, 2025. Proposals will be evaluated by a panel comprising representatives from B.A.S.S. and AFTCO. For more details or to apply, visit the AFTCO Conservation Grant page.
Past Success Stories & Impact
Since 2018, the grant program has awarded over $152,000 to support conservation initiatives. In 2024, AFTCO awarded six B.A.S.S. Nation clubs a total of $25,000 in conservation grants. These projects have led to significant improvements in fish habitats and have fostered significant improvement efforts across the country.
How to Apply for a Grant
B.A.S.S. Nation clubs interested in applying for the 2025 conservation grants should prepare a detailed proposal outlining their project, including objectives, methods, and expected outcomes. Ensure the local fisheries management agency supports the project and considers partnerships to strengthen the proposal. Applications are due by March 31, 2025, and can be submitted through the AFTCO Conservation Grant page. For questions, contact Gene Gilliland at ggilliland@bassmaster.com.
By participating in this grant program, anglers and clubs can play a pivotal role in preserving and enhancing our nation’s freshwater fisheries, ensuring that future generations can enjoy the thrill of bass fishing.
